DUMAG® Double Staged Burner DUO

In the recent years DUMAG has been assigned to design and build an increasing number of combustion systems up to 45 MW, treating more than 20 different gaseous and liquid fuels and waste streams, which often contain significant amounts of fuel-bound Nitrogen.

The secret of this unique DUMAG combustion technology is the implementation of two independent incineration zones. Thanks to the multiple parameter settings a customized adjustment of the combustion characteristic is resulting in a minimum formation of thermal and fuel related NOx.

Depending on the project requirements the orientation of the system can be either horizontal or vertical. Generally, the construction consists of the DUMAG IB industrial burner unit, a pre-combustion chamber, the air distribution manifold and, if required, addition quench gas introduction points along the combustion chamber.

Unlike in regular stoichiometric combustion the reduced oxygen resource in the first zone leads to a carbon monoxide enrichment which significantly displaces the NOx formation. In addition, the lower flame temperature conditions reduce thermal NOx formation. On the contrary the secondary zone is operated with excessive air supply, in order to ensure a proper pollutant destruction and quenching the combustion enthalpy for an accurate temperature control.

As a rule, applying the previous described combination of technology, a 70+% reduction of fuel-bound NOx should be possible. In addition to the thermal NOx lowering. This results in a substantial reduction of the expenses for the secondary treatment stage.

Advantages at a glance

  • Multiple gaseous and liquid sources
  • Effective combination of primary NOx measures
  • Reliable proven solution
  • Significant NOx reduction
  • Excellent adjustability and performance

The DUMAG DUO system is a fully developed and proven system that has already shown its advantages in various industrial sectors and enjoys full customer satisfaction.

As a rule, applying the previous described combination of technology, DUMAG will most likely achieve NOx levels lower than 100 mg/Nm³ without taking further measures into consideration.
